Habitat:
Breeds in temporary standing water after heavy rain or flooding. Common in fields, lawns, and wooded low areas. Populations spike rapidly after storms.

Threats & Dangers:
Aggressive biter that can appear in large numbers. Capable of spreading dog heartworm and certain viruses. Major nuisance species.

Control Measures:
Drainage improvement reduces breeding sites. Professional area-wide mosquito control is often required after flooding. Preventive treatments limit outbreaks.
