Little Black Ant
(Monomorium minimum)

Size: 1.5–2 mm
Characteristics: Tiny, shiny black ants that form long trails
Legs: 6
Antennae: Yes
Wings: Swarmers present

Habitat:
Little black ants nest in soil, masonry cracks, wall voids, and under flooring. They readily establish colonies indoors near kitchens and food sources. Multiple colonies may exist within a single structure.

Threats & Dangers:
These ants contaminate food and spread rapidly throughout homes. Their small size allows them to exploit even the tiniest openings. DIY treatments often worsen infestations by causing colony splitting.

Control Measures:
Professional baiting is essential to eliminate the entire colony, including hidden satellite nests. Sanitation and exclusion support long-term success. Ongoing monitoring prevents recurring infestations.
